SANITA BALODE

Stockholm, the city behind seven new pages from the 365 series by Sanita Balode

ELVENE

These weeks I spend most of my time in the studio with Elvene,

a new series of large paintings about the rivers here in Voss.

The rivers change fast when the rain comes, and I am trying to hold that speed in colour. It is slow work, and I love it.

365

In between, I go back to my small pages from 365.

This is the series I paint when I travel. I carry a little set of paper and colours, and wherever I am, I paint at least one sheet a day.

Each page is finished the same day and never corrected afterwards.

Some pages come from my parents' home in Latvia. Others come from Stockholm, where I stayed with a dear friend.

SEVEN PAGES FROM STOCKHOLM

Original pages on paper from the 365 series by Sanita Balode

On 9 November I put a selection of the Stockholm pages in my shop for one week. Seven pages, each of them one day in a city I only visited.

Each page is an original on A4 paper with a 30 x 40 cm mount that fits a standard frame. 1 400 NOK, and each page exists only once.

The shop opens on Monday 9 November at 09:00 and closes on Sunday 15 November at 20:00.

People on my email list see the pages the evening before, on Sunday 8 November at 20:00, with 10 % off.

MEET ME IN BERGEN

On Sunday 22 November I have my own stand at Bergen Kunstmarked,

Thon Senter Bergen, from 12:00 to 18:00.

I bring paintings from Elvene, pages from 365 and works from While It Lasts.

OPEN DAY IN VOSS

On Saturday 28 November

I open the doors at Kulturverkstaden Magasinet, Magasinvegen 14, 5700 Voss,

from 11:00 to 16:00.

Come and see the paintings up close, in daylight, with a cup of something warm.

All I Want was painted in 2025, the year I came back from a serious illness.

It reminded me, very clearly, that life does not last forever.

After that, I gave much more of my time back to painting.

This is the painting that marks that turn, and it is now in my shop.
